From Captivity to Freedom: The Unfathomable and Chilling Rescue of a Dog Tied and Imprisoned Helplessly on an Iron Bar

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KGPE) – Fresno Humane Animal Services came to the rescue Tuesday of a dog that was found trapped in a tire rim.

Animal Control Officer Danielle Hartman was called to a property near Belmont and Grantland, where she found what appeared to be a one-year-old shepherd-Labrador mix dog with its head stuck in a tire rim.

“I had to really assess the situation and decide how we were going to get it out,” Hartman said.

She couldn’t get it out herself, so she loaded the dog and the tire into her truck and then locked it up so it wouldn’t roll on the way back to the shelter.

“Of course, being her size, I was very worried about trying to cut the edge off of her because that would have been too traumatizing for her,” Hartman said.

It was thanks to an old trick, soap and water, that they were able to get her out of it without hurting her.

Hartman says this is a good reminder for pet owners to keep their animals contained.

“Check their yards, check their fences, talk to their neighbors, microchip them, keep tags and collars on them, anything you can do to keep them safe,” Hartman said.

Rimsy seems to be taking good care of her, but her owner has not yet claimed her. If no one comes this weekend, she will be available for adoption.
