In a touching moment, two sisters who accidentally found oᴜt they were pregnant at the same time recreated an adorable childhood photo with balloons underneath their dresses. What was once a whimsical vision of their youth has now turned into reality, with their own precious bundles of balloons replacing the once floating balloons. Bri Dietz, 35, and her sister Chaulet Barba, 33, both from San Diego, experienced overwhelming joy when they realized they would be embarking on this journey of motherhood together.
When Bri Dietz, 35, and Chaulet Barba, 33, were just 6 and 4 years old, respectively, they had no idea that one day their pretend simultaneous marriage would become a reality. Growing up, Bri and Chaulet were inseparable, playing with dolls and pretending to be mothers. Even now they still talk on the phone every day.
“When we found oᴜt we were pregnant together, I said, ‘Do you remember that picture?’” Dietz said. “It immediately popped into my mind, probably 25 years later, and I still remember it!”
After some digging, Barba found a 1990s photo of the two of them with hair curlers and balloons underneath their pajamas. Afterwards, the two sisters posed side by side, this time lifting their shirts to reveal their pregnant bellies.
Dietz gave birth to her 2-year-old daughter, Goldie, in October 2019, and Barba gave birth to her 1-year-old daughter, Gemma, in January 2020, just a few months later.
Today, the girls are extremely close, just like their mothers were and are. Their mother decided to continue taking photos further, recreating their childhood hot air balloon photo with her children. Now there’s a trio of pictures, with the latest showing Goldie and Gemma posing with balloons under their own nightgowns.
“We were so lucky to have the opportunity to recreate that,” Dietz, now a mother of three, said of the decades-long photo series. “It made me feel not only like I got to play it like a kid, but also like a special moment of sisterhood.”
She hopes that the sweet photos of her, her sister, and their daughters can remind viewers of how wonderful their girlhood family time was.
“A lot of girls can remember that sweet childhood when you innocently played with your siblings,” says Dietz.
“I hope it will make people remember those sweet times when you’re in your own little world with your siblings, and we can’t imitate that in our busy everyday lives.” mine.”
