Archaeologists have made an extгаoгdіпагу discovery in western Sweden. These petroglyphs, found on the steep granite surface that were once part of the island, depict a variety of fascinating subjects including includes ships, people and animals.
Martin Östholm, project manager of the Bohuslän Document Foundation and one of the archaeologists involved in the discovery, explains that the location of the petroglyphs shows they are created from a boat or a platform built on ice. Standing high above the ground, the petroglyphs rest on a granite facet inaccessible to climbers.
To study and analyze these ancient carvings, the researchers built a platform, allowing them to safely access the petroglyphs. This аttemрt was made due to the inability to reach the rock fасe directly. The team meticulously cleaned up the moss covering the surface, revealing the intricate petroglyphs hidden underneath.
